Hi, I’m Wilna,

born and bred in Bloemfontein,  bringing my lekker Afrikaans accent and even lekkerder South African goodies to Adelaide!

I started The South African Place because I’m passionate about what I do — and because our community deserves a spot that truly feels like home.

Here you’ll find everything from biltong and boerewors to koeksisters, gifts, clothing, snacks, sauces, and all the little treasures that make a South African’s heart smile. If it reminds you of home, chances are you’ll find it on our shelves… and if you don’t, I’ll probably go hunting for it!

I absolutely love connecting with the South African community — sharing stories, laughs, and that instant “ja, we get each other” feeling.

And hey, if you hear me shouting “ag nee man!” from behind the counter, don’t worry — it’s just the biltong slicer misbehaving again!
